GENERAL INFORMATION: To be eligible for the TAHSSD scholarship award, you must be a current member of The Arabian Horse Society of South Dakota Inc and be either a high school junior/senior or a graduate through the age of 21. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic ability, leadership, and involvement in equine activities.
The scholarship recipient is eligible to use the award for undergraduate educational expenses at institutions of higher learning. An institution of higher learning is defined as one, which may only be attended upon receipt of a high school diploma or its equivalent. This definition shall include colleges, universities, junior or community colleges offering an Associate degree, and trade schools providing education in a field leading to permanent employment.
DEADLINE: Applications must be received no later than April 1 of the year in which the applicant wishes to receive the scholarship.
COMMITTEE: The Scholarship Committee will consist of individuals appointed by the TAHSSD Board, at the Board’s discretion.
All information will be held in the strictest confidence by the Scholarship Committee. All applications and supporting materials become the property of the committee until the award is presented at the annual South Dakota Spring Shows.
No materials will be returned. After the award has been given, the committee will destroy any remaining materials.
AWARD NOTIFICATION: One $500 scholarship will be presented at the annual South Dakota Spring Shows. Applicants may only win once.
The Scholarship Committee will hold the money until notification of enrollment by the recipient. A check in the amount of the award will be sent to the college by the TAHSSD Scholarship Committee to be applied to educational expenses on behalf of the recipient.
